My name is Sarah Atkinson and I'm the current Water Vole Conservation Officer.
This project is implemented through the local biodiversity action group, NELBAP.
The principal objective of the project is to identify ‘key areas' still holding significant water vole populations in all North East catchments. Then ensure the survival of water vole populations in these identified ‘key areas' through effective conservation methods, whilst increasing Water vole awareness in the community and managing invasive mink populations where appropriate.
The project focuses strongly on the idea of community involvement. By getting people involved, ie farmers, bailiffs, gamekeepers, volunteer groups and other members of the public, the scope of the project can be expanded. This allows for the project to spread and increase the conservation effort over the whole North East of Scotland.
If your interested use the contact page to get in touch or if you have any sightings and want to report them they would be most welcome use the Water Vole and Mink sightings form online .
